This is Lots of Things
Back in June 2013, my very good friend Adan Jimenez was teaching a workshop through a local educational company, and asked me to come in to talk about my writing career up to that point, as well as some behind-the-scenes from working as the fiction editor at an independent publisher. When he introduced me, he put up the above slide1, which made me laugh.
While talking with him afterwards, I resolved to someday write a book called Lots of Things in order to make this slide retroactively factual. I still haven’t written that particular book (though I’m now more tempted than ever to put it together), so this Substack will act as a sort-of version of what I had planned, which was a collection of speculative flash fiction.
Starting in January 2026, this Substack will go live, and it will feature one work of microfiction per week. I will also occasionally cross-post blog entries from my website, JasonLundberg.net, with news about my writing and teaching. All of this will be free to read.
As we go along, I’ll eventually implement a paid subscription for new fiction and other exclusive things, though there will always be free stuff to read here. I hope you’ll join me for the journey.
At the time, the first descriptor was true, and the second was not (yet) true. Now, twelve and a half years later, the first is no longer true (I left Epigram Books at the end of April 2024), and the second is now true with the launch of this Substack. A fun inversion!
